Holding onto unforgiveness can feel like carrying a weight that never seems to get lighter. The pain may have started with something someone said or did, but continuing to hold onto it can keep us trapped in the past.
Forgiveness does not mean pretending the hurt never happened. It does not mean excusing someone's actions or allowing them to hurt you again. Forgiveness means choosing to release the burden and refusing to let bitterness control your future.
Christ calls us to forgive because He first showed us forgiveness. When we release resentment, we make room for peace, healing, and freedom.
You cannot change what happened, but you can choose what happens next. Sometimes letting go is the first step toward becoming free.
